Marie Adams - Colloquially Nicknamed "TV Mama" - Was Best Known By UK Audiences For Her Role In The Johnny Otis Show With Her Backing Singers, The Three Tons Of Joy. She'd However Enjoyed Earlier Success As A Singer, Recording Gospel And R&B Material For The Peacock Label, Before Hooking Up With Otis In The Mid-1950s. Otis Hosted His Own Radio And TV Shows In Los Angeles And Marie, Plus Sisters Sadie & Francine McKinley, As The Three Tons Of Joy (Their Combined Weight Topped 800lbs), Were A Major Focus. This Is The First Compilation To Encompass All The Different Elements Of Marie's Recording Career, Covering The Period 1951-58. Included Are Her US Hit 'I'm Gonna Play The Honky-Tonks' (#3 R&B, 1952) And The Johnny Otis Show's Later UK Top 20 Hits 'Ma (He's Makin' Eyes At Me)' (#2, 1957) And 'Bye Bye Baby' (#17, 1958).
