Weinstein is not only a master of the art of playing jazz on the chromatic harmonica, but seven years living in Chicago exposed him to the funky and soulful blues harp style created on the city's South Side. Dave Waldman, an outstanding Chicago-based harmonica player, was huge influence on Weinstein and ignited a deep appreciation for the playing of Little Walter Jacobs.
