More Info:

The Montreal based dance collective known as the Crescent Street Hustlers are on a mission to revive and modernize the Canadian disco scene, celebrating the great dance music that thrived in that city primarily in the late 1970s, at the height of the global disco explosion. Signed to the recently revived Afro Wax Records imprint - the label that turned the world on to the sounds of speed garage and progressive house music, the Hustlers have been hard at work - making magic happen in the studio and continually perfecting their craft. Focusing on the original artists that made the Montreal scene sizzle, CSH have drawn on some of the biggest hits of the era - from the esoteric sounds of The Great Disco Bouzouki Band (represented by their hit "Disco Bouzouki"), to the sound of Canada's most prolific disco producers, the great Tony Green and his projects such as the groups Colorblind ("Kalei-Disco"), Metal Weeds ("Sunshine Love") and Fusion ("Sais-Tu Pourquoi'), the funky disco sounds of Sunshine Combo ("Sweet Corazon"), and the sophisticated disco experiments of the late revered Canadian pianist, composer, conductor and arranger André Gagnon ("Surprise"). Certainly, one of the most ambitious projects of this year or any other in the dance music world, the Crescent Street Hustlers deliver the goods in a way that not only pays tribute to the original Montreal scene but succeeds in making it appealing for a whole new generation of listeners.
